The site which began its activity in 1990, serves as the a waste treatment site, generally for the south of the country, and collects about 1000 tons of waste a day. The Dudaim site is a unique site which combines an active burying site for waste and a center for education on environmental topics.
The uniqueness of the site is in that it is divided into several departments which deal with different types of waste – from domestic waste to trimmed foliage.
The regional council of Bnei Shimon, the tourism bureau and the environment bureau, took upon themselves the obligation to further subjects of environmental education, through visits at the site and guidance which teaches about its operation.
The site serves as a field laboratory for studying environmental subjects, in way which is both tangible and experiential.
Visits must be coordinated ahead of time.
