In the early twentieth century, a young Zionist Organization of Keren Kayemet Le Israel (KKL) began collecting money to purchase land in Palestine. Can imagine a sun-scorched, windy land buffeted by desert winds, filled with malarial swamps, and countless rocks? The local residents, who owned the land, found their new found luck unbelievable and were happy to sell their land to the KKL who was paying high prices for the land.

Today when you look at the map, do you wonder about the configuration of the State of Israel? Explanation is simple. Borders in 1948 were determined on the basis of property rights of land bought by the KKL. In fact, purchase by the KKL was the second time the Jewish people bought land. The first time was when the ancestors lived there several thousand years ago.

According to UNESCO - Israel is the only country in the world whose territory in the twentieth century has increased by the planted forests. This is the result of work KKL. How many people know that every tree growing in Israel, has been cultivated in the greenhouse, and only then, after several years, transplanted? Each child born in Israel receives a gift tree, named in his honor and planted in new, emerging forest, and this is too by the KKL. And these - many, many millions of trees have changed the face of this country. Did you know that a serious part of the budget in the State of Israel is the export of agricultural products like fruit and vegetables and dozens of varieties of flowers in multiple colors?

KKL sponsors countless parks throughout Israel, including roads within national parks, playgrounds, recreational facilities, hiking trails, and many activities that bring children and adults together giving them an opportunity to know and love this land. KKL is - the whole world. Meet them!
