Capernaum (Kfar-Nahum)

Capernaum (Kfar-Nahum)

Jesus performed many miracles in Capernaum: unclean spirit expelled from a "possessed" man, raised a rabbi’s daughter, and cured a slave, healed Peter’s mother-in-law and much more.

"And came down to Capernaum, a city of Galilee, and taught them on the sabbath days."
(Luke, Chapter 4, 31)

Capernaum - once a prosperous city located on the road leading to Syria. It was destroyed as a result of an earthquake and has not been rebuilt.

In place of the city preserved ruins of buildings and the ruins of the city synagogue, built in the third century during the reign of Caesar Julius.
Here, above the ruins of houses, where, according to tradition lived, Simon (Peter) built the Catholic Church.
