The magnificent garden terraces at the Bahá`í World Centre in Haifa, Israel, were opened to the public in June 2001. They provide an appropriate setting and approach for pilgrims and visitors to this Bahá`í holy place.
Extending nearly a kilometer up the side of Mount Carmel, they bracket the Shrine of the Báb, the second most holy place in the Bahá`í world. It is the resting place of the Báb, who is regarded by Bahá`ís as a Messenger of God and forerunner to Bahá`u`lláh.
Extensively cultivated and featuring a diversity of plants from throughout the region, the 19 terraces have won international acclaim for their architectural and landscape design.
Their completion signified a new stage in the growth and development of the Bahá`í Faith, reflecting a peacefulness, beauty, and grandeur befitting its global expansion and commitment to the highest moral principles.
Hundreds of thousands of visitors have joined in guided tours available throughout the year. Tour reservations are available by phone and email, free of charge.
